２００８年MBA夏祭り MBA Alum Fair 2008
Every year, on 3rd Monday in July (National Holiday) AGOS hosts the largest MBA Fair in Japan by alums / current MBA students. This year, over 500 candidates registered for the event and over 80% (408) showed up to interact with over 120 MBA alums / current students from 27 schools to familiarize themselves with value of MBA education, campus life of different schools and career after MBA. 60% of prospects are aiming for 2009 entry, while 30% targets 2010 and the remaining 10% is looking ahead beyond 2010. The total attendance was 10% from last year's same event.
This fifth annual event started in 2004 when I invited 60 alums from 19 programs with whom I had the fortune of working with during their application preparation process. I truly appreciate their spirit of "giving back to community" by sparing the third day of a three-day holiday each year to participate in this event.
It is very rewarding to see all the alums who used be on the other side of the tables come back and encouraging the next generation prospects. I am also grateful to the admissions offices that work closely with these groups of alums to make this event such a success.
Below are the pictures of alums who were present at each table just before the event opened. The listed names are those who actually volunteered to this event and helped out on July 21. In recognition of their contribution the names are in English for admissions to recognize. Again, our sincere thanks to all who participated and also those who were not there but worked hard behind the scene to make this annual event the largest ever in 5 years.
Finally, to the peospects, the general application trend from Japan to North America and Europe for 2008 entry was down in most places and flat at best in many others. Talking to admissions and alums there are more chances for candidates from Japan if all these solid candidates do actually apply. we wish you the best and please seek our (or other) advices to keep yourself motivated and committed in this long but worthy process.
